The collection consists of five volumes containing the handwritten draft of Untermeyer's book, Heinrich Heine, paradox and poet, published by Harcourt, Brace in 1937. The manuscript is written in pen on lined paper in bound volumes; Record or Journal is printed on the cover. The text is written primarily on one side only, with some corrections and added passages on the opposite leaf; corrections throughout, some in red. Includes poems by Heine. Two letters from Harcourt, Brace, signed Alfred, Aug. 1936, about publication, pasted in volume 1.
